Master Shifu Hwang
Festival Host
Shifu Hwang, the founder of
TaiChi People as well as the Austin Martial Arts Festival,
was born in 1948 and started TaiChi at 24 years old. In 1977, he
learned Shuai Chiao from Master John Wang, the disciple of Gm. Chang Tung Seng.
Shifu Hwang is a Martial Artist and a Chuan Zen School Taoist. His martial
arts contribution is his creation of the Waving Lotus Bagua Zhang form.
Master Sam Um
Festival Host
In 1989 Master Um opened Master Martial Arts in Westlake, Texas. The school moved to its current location on Bee Cave Road in 1991.
